Chapter 4

Chapt. 4

Beep...Beep...Beep...Beep
I was lulled out of my sleep by this beeping noise. My first thought was that it was my stupid alarm clock. Mom must have set it to 7:00 again.
Groggily, I opened my eyes and looked at the ceiling.
That wasn`t my bedroom ceiling.
This wasn`t my bedroom.
This wasn`t home.
I forced my eyes open wider to survey my surroundings.
I was in a hospital.
It didn`t take much to figure that one out... I mean, there were metal beds and IVs and the curtain dividers. And it smelt like death and rotting corpses. Ok, maybe I was exagerating, maybe the smell wasnt that bad, But it was still bad enough for me to want out.
Not long after I figured out where I was, A nurse came bustling in the room, pushing a cart of IV looking machines. She glanced over at my bed casually, not expencting any movement. When she saw me with my eyes open, she gasped and abandoned her cart. Rushing over to me, she grabbed my hand and felt my pulse.
"Are you ok, sweetie?" she asked, her voice shaking. She was obviously new to the job, or else she wouldn't be so shaky.
Instead of answering, I decided to ask a question of my own. "What happened?"
"You just hold on while I get you're doctor." She bustled over to the cart and wheeled it out of the door. While she was gone, I amused myself by couting the seed sequences on the dwarved sunflower somebody had placed on my bedside table. I remembered learning in grade seven that it was a pattern called the fibbanachi sequence. the swirling pattern had a purpose, and repeated itself over again in nature, wether it be a pinecone or a pineapple. I wondered if I had a purpose, like a pineapple. and If I did have a purpose, was it much bigger than the pinecones?Discarding my thoughts and shoving them back in my head, I tried to remember what hhad happened. I thought untill it hurt. I came up with nothing. My mind was blank.
Snapping out of the painful absense of memory, I looked towards the door. A second later, in walked the doctor.
